There’s nothing like a breath of fresh air when it comes to Hip Hop, even in the underground scene. So if you were looking for something refreshing, real and straight forward; insert Eddie Royal. His video Link Up gives a dose of that raw Hip Hop feel straight out of Philadelphia. Great lyrics perfectly constructed and delivered in this manner isn’t common with today’s state of rap music. Link Up is one of those tracks that spark some of the best barbershop debates on where Hip Hop stands, who’s good enough and why did we let it get this far out of control. Eddie Royal clearly knows his place and has a direction for his music but also is challenging his peers with this one. This is seemingly a blatant call out for anyone in the industry living under false ideas of what it is to be real and to be a real artist. Definitely a track for the repeat pile.
